Description
The 5005 is the ArmouRx for buyers who keep getting frames that slide off-axis. Smaller lens width, tighter temple-to-temple measurement, and the same ANSI Z87+ industrial certification as the larger ArmouRx frames. Built specifically for the smaller-fit segment of an industrial workforce that median-large frames don’t accommodate.
Why a compact-fit industrial Rx frame is its own category
Most industrial safety frames are engineered for a median-large adult fitting — broadly accommodating, but built around the assumption that the wearer has a typical adult-male-pattern face. That assumption fails for a meaningful portion of the actual industrial workforce: women in trades, younger workers, smaller-framed adults of any gender. When the wearer’s PD or temple-to-temple measurement falls below the median, a standard industrial frame slides off-axis under motion, doesn’t seal correctly against the cheek, or introduces optical distortion because the prescription centers don’t align with the wearer’s pupils. The 5005 exists specifically to fix that — it’s the same protective spec in a smaller chassis.
How to know if the 5005 is the right size for you
Two quick measurements decide it. The pupillary distance (PD) is the most important: if yours is between 56 and 64 mm, the 5005 fits cleanly; outside that range, look at the 6008 (median-large) or check with our optical team. The temple-to-temple measurement is the second check: hold a credit card across the bridge of your nose at eye level — if the card is roughly the width of your face at the temples, you’re a small-to-medium fit and the 5005 will work. If the card is materially narrower than your face width, you’d be more comfortable in a 6008. We also accept returns within 30 days if the fit doesn’t work; the lab will rebuild the script in a different frame at no charge.
How the prescription work happens
Every 5005 prescription is cut at our US optical lab. Single-vision, bifocal, and progressive lenses are all supported. Progressive lenses use a short-corridor design specifically validated for the 5005’s shallower lens height — if you’ve worn progressives in larger frames before, expect about two weeks of adaptation to the shorter corridor; that’s normal short-corridor adjustment, not a defect. Polycarbonate is the standard lens material for most working-adult prescriptions; high-index 1.67 is available for stronger Rx. Anti-reflective and anti-fog coatings are optional add-ons at the customize-lens step.

Product Q&A
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 5005 the right pick for smaller faces?
Yes. The 5005 is the more compact frame in the ArmouRx industrial line — the lens width and the temple-to-temple measurement are both smaller than the 6008/6009 chassis. It fits PDs roughly 56–64 mm cleanly. If your existing pair of glasses fits comfortably and your PD is in that range, the 5005 will fit well. If you have a broader face or PD over 65 mm, the 6008 is a better starting point.
Are side shields integrated or removable?
Integrated, like the rest of the ArmouRx industrial line. The shields are molded into the frame chassis and stay in place permanently, which keeps the ANSI Z87.1 certification valid through impact testing without configuration ambiguity. If you need a frame where shields can detach for off-shift wear, look at the OnGuard OG220S — the 5005 is purpose-built as a dedicated-shift industrial frame.
Why is the 5005 listed as a 'customer favorite'?
Because the compact fit + standard-Rx range covers the largest single segment of working-adult industrial buyers. Most safety frames are sized for median-large adult fittings, which leaves smaller-faced wearers (a meaningful percentage of women in industrial trades and most adolescent-to-college-age workers) with frames that slide off-axis or don’t seal correctly. The 5005 is one of the few industrial Rx frames in this price band with a proper compact fit, which is why it accumulates re-orders and word-of-mouth recommendations.
Will progressives work in this frame size?
Yes, but with one fitting note: progressive lenses need adequate vertical lens height for the corridor between distance and reading prescriptions. The 5005’s lens is shallower than the 6008, which means the progressive corridor is tighter. The lab handles this by using a short-corridor progressive design specifically validated for this frame. If you’ve worn progressives in larger frames and try this compact fit, expect about 2 weeks to adapt to the shorter corridor — that’s normal, not a defect.
How does this work with corporate safety programs?
The 5005 is widely approved on corporate safety-eyewear programs because it covers the smaller-fit segment of a typical workforce that median-large frames don’t fit. We accept Corporate Program vouchers at checkout. If your employer’s program doesn’t yet include the 5005 specifically and you have a smaller fit requirement, we can work with the program administrator to add it — call the line at the top of the page or email sales@safetygearpro.com.
