Description
What this part is
The dust dam on an OnGuard OG 220S is the flexible gasket running around the inside of the frame that closes the gap against the face. It is the part that makes the 220S a sealed frame rather than an open one, and because it flexes against skin every time the glasses go on, it is the first component to soften, deform or tear. Replacing it restores the seal at a fraction of the cost of a new frame.
Choosing the right one
Two things have to match. Size: order 55 for a 55-15-130 frame and 58 for a 58-15-135 frame — the size is stamped inside the temple. Color: black fits the clear, brown, black and green/yellow frames; pink fits the Grey/Pink frame; white fits the purple/white frame.
One thing to expect when it arrives: only a slim edge strip of the dust dam is colored. The main body of the part is black on every version, including the pink and the white. A pink dust dam that looks mostly black is the correct part, not a picking error.
Fitting
The dust dam seats into the channel on the inside of the frame and does not require tools. Work it in from one side and press it around; the certification is unaffected, because the rating belongs to the frame and lens.
