Why this frame

The XC231 is the one to reach for if the usual safety glasses sit too narrow. It is a broad, squared front with a deep lens opening, and that depth is the point: progressives and bifocals need vertical room for the corridor to work, and a shallow safety frame is where those prescriptions get compromised.

Side shields are the choice on this page

The EZ Shields version comes with clear wraparound shields fitted for sites that require lateral protection. The plain version is the same frame without them.

What the certification means here

This frame is rated to ANSI Z87.1 and CSA Z94.3. Both marks are stamped on the frame, so the pair documents itself on a walkthrough. The rating covers the frame and lens as an assembly, which is why the lens is polycarbonate — a certified frame carrying an uncertified lens is not a certified pair.
