Description
A slim metal frame that still takes side shields
SVSS 1 is the narrowest frame in the SafeVision metal line at 54-19-140 — a deliberately understated safety frame for people who do not want to look like they are wearing safety glasses at a desk, a client site or a plant tour.
Built narrow on purpose
At 31 mm the lens height is the shallowest in the range. That keeps the frame visually light, and it is the reason to choose SVSS 1 over the deeper SVSS 12 or 14 — but it is also the reason to think twice if the wearer needs a progressive, because a shallow lens leaves the lab less corridor to work with.
Side shields that come off
Removable side shields are supplied with the frame. They are the standard SafeVision shield, so a lost pair is a part order rather than a new frame — but note the Z87.1 side-protection rating only holds while they are fitted.
Long temples
140 mm temples run longer than the plastic SafeVision frames, which suits deeper head shapes and sits more comfortably under ear defenders than a short temple that stops at the hinge.
