The Breach 2.5 is the modern revision of Wiley X’s Breach tactical platform. Dynamic Ventilation System creates active airflow past the inner lens to prevent fog at stationary positions where passive venting fails. Removable foam gasket converts between sealed and open configurations. CAPTIVATE lens technology, dual ANSI Z87.1+ + MIL-PRF-32432A certification on every SKU.

Non-prescription (plano) lenses only.

Description

Modern Wiley X Breach revision · Dynamic Ventilation active anti-fog · Removable sealed gasket · CAPTIVATE lens · ANSI Z87.1+ + MIL-PRF on every SKU

What “Dynamic Ventilation” Delivers That Passive Venting Can’t

Most ventilated safety eyewear uses passive venting — gaps in the frame that rely on wearer movement to create airflow past the inner lens surface. Passive venting works during active motion (running, climbing, walking) but fails at stationary positions where there’s no air movement to drive the venting. For tactical use that involves long stationary periods (overwatch, surveillance, sustained shooting positions, range observation), passive-vented frames fog because the warm air from breathing has nowhere to go. The Breach 2.5’s Dynamic Ventilation System engineers airflow channels into the frame architecture itself — air circulates past the inner lens at low movement and stationary positions where passive venting fails. Combined with motion-driven airflow during active use, the result is a frame that doesn’t fog across the full tactical operational range.

Why the Removable Gasket Is the Right Architecture for Tactical Use

Some tactical frames are open-architecture (no seal) — comfortable for sustained wear but exposed to dust and debris. Others are sealed (foam gasket) — protected against contamination but warmer and harder to clean. The Breach 2.5 is convertible between both. The foam gasket attaches with captive clips and removes without tools in about 15 seconds. With gasket installed, the frame seals against the face — appropriate for dust-heavy range work, vehicle interiors, demolition-adjacent tactical operations. With gasket removed, it’s an open-architecture tactical sunglass — comfortable for sustained wear, breathable in heat, easier to clean. The Dynamic Ventilation System is engineered to function correctly in both configurations.

THE STANDARD FIT

The Breach 2.5 (Standard) has lens dimensions of 64mm x 40mm, an 18mm bridge, and 116mm temples — sized for median adult faces with PDs 60-66mm. If you find the Standard narrow at the temples or short on reach, choose the Breach 2.5 XL instead — same certification stack, Dynamic Ventilation, removable-gasket architecture, and CAPTIVATE lens technology, in a larger fit.

The Breach 2.5 is sold with its factory (non-prescription) lenses only. The ANSI Z87.1+ and MIL-PRF-32432A ratings apply to those factory lenses — prescription lenses aren’t rated — so we don’t offer an Rx option on this listing.

Product Q&A

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What's new in the Breach 2.5 vs. the original Wiley X Breach?

The 2.5 is the current-generation refresh of Wiley X’s Breach platform. Key updates over the original: Dynamic Ventilation System engineered into the frame for active anti-fog performance, removable foam gasket for converting between sealed and open configurations, refined high-wrap shield geometry for improved peripheral coverage, and CAPTIVATE lens technology integrated across the kit.

Q: What does the 'Dynamic Ventilation System' actually do?

Engineered airflow channels around the frame create active air circulation past the inner lens surface — preventing the warm-air buildup that causes lens fog. Unlike passive venting (which relies on wearer movement), Dynamic Ventilation works at low movement and stationary positions where passive venting fails. For overwatch, surveillance, and range work it keeps the lens clear when standard frames fog; for active use it adds margin on top of motion-driven airflow.

Q: Sealed gasket or open frame — what's the trade-off?

The foam gasket is removable. Installed, the frame seals against the face for dust, debris, and contamination protection — for shooting in dusty range environments, vehicle work, demolition-adjacent tactical use. Removed, it’s an open-architecture sunglass — more comfortable for sustained wear, more breathable, easier to clean. Dynamic Ventilation works in both. Most buyers keep the gasket in the case and install it when the environment calls for it.

Q: Standard or XL — which fit do I need?

Standard Breach 2.5 fits median adult faces (PDs 60-66 mm; lens 64x40mm, bridge 18mm, temples 116mm). Breach 2.5 XL fits broader temple-to-temple measurements and PDs above 66 mm. Both share the same certification stack and lens technology — pick by fit (non-prescription lenses only). Each fit is sold as its own listing.

Q: What's the certification stack?

ANSI Z87.1+ for US industrial high-velocity impact (OSHA 1910.133 industrial PPE), and MIL-PRF-32432A for US military ground-troop spectacle ballistic protection (.15 caliber V0 ballistic test). The dual cert is consistent across the Breach 2.5 line — every SKU carries both, unlike some Wiley X models where MIL-PRF is reserved for select SKUs only.
