Description
Assembled in the USA · ANSI Z87.1+ high-velocity & high-mass impact rated · OSHA compliant with included side shields
The Profile is the everyday safety frame for pros who hate looking like they’re wearing safety frames. A flat-top rectangular silhouette with a Triloid nylon chassis, Selenite polycarbonate lenses, and the WorkSight side shields tucked into the temples — the certification is built in, not bolted on. Pair it with your prescription and you’ve got one pair of glasses that passes the OSHA inspection, the morning meeting, and the drive home.
Most prescription safety glasses look like prescription safety glasses. The Wiley X Profile doesn’t, and that’s why it stays on faces instead of getting left in toolboxes. The frame reads as a clean rectangular optical frame from the front; the protection lives in the geometry — a deeper-than-standard temple wrap, a slim WorkSight side shield that snaps in and out without tools, and a Triloid nylon construction that flexes under impact rather than shattering. The five-barrel optical hinge is the same hardware Wiley X uses on its tactical line, which means the temples will outlast the lenses.
The ‘plus’ on Z87.1+ is the part that matters. Standard Z87.1 lenses have to survive a one-inch ball dropped from 50 inches. The plus designation adds high-velocity testing — a quarter-inch steel ball fired at the lens at 102 mph, repeated across 20 impact zones. Selenite polycarbonate clears that bar with margin. The WorkSight side shields are tested to the same standard, which is why this frame is one of the few that’s OSHA-compliant straight out of the box, with no after-market shield kit required.
Every Profile we ship as Rx is cut, edged, and quality-checked at our optical lab in the United States. Single-vision, bifocal, and progressive lenses are all available, in polycarbonate or Trivex, with anti-scratch and anti-reflective coatings. We won’t cut a lens until the prescription scan passes our verification step — and if the lab makes a mistake, we remake the lenses for free. Most jobs ship in 5–7 business days. If your script is fresh and you want a faster pair, the Frames Only configuration is in stock now and your local optometrist can install lenses to spec.

Product Q&A
Frequently asked Questions about WileyX Profile Safety Glasses
Are the side shields included, or do I have to buy them separately?
Included. Every Wiley X Profile we ship — Rx or non-prescription — comes with the WorkSight removable side shields in the box. You don’t have to add them, configure them, or pay extra for them. With the shields installed, the frame meets the OSHA 1910.133 lateral-protection requirement; without them, it’s still ANSI Z87.1+ rated for frontal impact, so you can run them off-shift as everyday eyewear and snap the shields back in for the next shift.
How is the prescription accuracy verified before my glasses ship?
Every prescription order goes through a two-stage check at our US optical lab. First, your script is digitized and run against our lensometer baseline — sphere, cylinder, axis, add power, and pupillary distance all have to land within ANSI tolerance bands. Second, the finished pair is power-mapped on the lensometer one more time before it leaves the lab. If anything is out of spec, we remake the lenses at no charge to you. We also keep a copy of your prescription scan on file, so if you order a backup pair later we can match the first pair exactly.
Will these work with my insurance, FSA, or HSA?
FSA and HSA: yes, in almost every case. Prescription safety glasses qualify as a medical-device expense with both account types. We supply an itemized receipt automatically with every order so you have what you need to submit. Vision insurance reimbursement varies by plan — we don’t bill insurance directly, but most VSP, EyeMed, and Davis Vision plans will reimburse out-of-network on receipt. Call the number at the top of the page if you want us to look up your specific plan before you order.
What's the difference between Z87.1, Z87+, and Z87-2?
Z87.1 is the base ANSI standard for impact-rated eyewear — it has to survive a one-inch ball dropped from 50 inches. Z87+ (or Z87.1+) adds high-velocity testing: a quarter-inch steel ball fired at the lens at 102 mph, across 20 impact zones. The Profile is rated Z87+, which is what most industrial, construction, and electrical work environments require. Z87-2 is a separate prescription-specific marking that confirms the FRAME (not just the lens) meets the impact standard. Wiley X frames in this line carry Z87-2 markings on the temple.
Can I get them in clear lenses for indoor work and tinted for outdoor?
Yes — and a lot of people do. The Profile is available with clear, smoke-grey, light-rust, and polarized lens options at the customize-lens step. If you split your day between a shop floor and a job site, the most common configuration is one Rx frame with clear lenses plus a second Rx frame with polarized grey, both ordered at the same time. The lab match guarantees the prescriptions are identical between the two pairs.
