Yes. The 5005 is the more compact frame in the ArmouRx industrial line — the lens width and the temple-to-temple measurement are both smaller than the 6008/6009 chassis. It fits PDs roughly 56–64 mm cleanly. If your existing pair of glasses fits comfortably and your PD is in that range, the 5005 will fit well. If you have a broader face or PD over 65 mm, the 6008 is a better starting point.
Integrated, like the rest of the ArmouRx industrial line. The shields are molded into the frame chassis and stay in place permanently, which keeps the ANSI Z87.1 certification valid through impact testing without configuration ambiguity. If you need a frame where shields can detach for off-shift wear, look at the OnGuard OG220S — the 5005 is purpose-built as a dedicated-shift industrial frame.
Because the compact fit + standard-Rx range covers the largest single segment of working-adult industrial buyers. Most safety frames are sized for median-large adult fittings, which leaves smaller-faced wearers (a meaningful percentage of women in industrial trades and most adolescent-to-college-age workers) with frames that slide off-axis or don’t seal correctly. The 5005 is one of the few industrial Rx frames in this price band with a proper compact fit, which is why it accumulates re-orders and word-of-mouth recommendations.
Yes, but with one fitting note: progressive lenses need adequate vertical lens height for the corridor between distance and reading prescriptions. The 5005’s lens is shallower than the 6008, which means the progressive corridor is tighter. The lab handles this by using a short-corridor progressive design specifically validated for this frame. If you’ve worn progressives in larger frames and try this compact fit, expect about 2 weeks to adapt to the shorter corridor — that’s normal, not a defect.
The 5005 is widely approved on corporate safety-eyewear programs because it covers the smaller-fit segment of a typical workforce that median-large frames don’t fit. We accept Corporate Program vouchers at checkout. If your employer’s program doesn’t yet include the 5005 specifically and you have a smaller fit requirement, we can work with the program administrator to add it — call the line at the top of the page or email [email protected].
