MIL-PRF-32432 is the US military performance specification for protective eyewear. The (GL) designation specifically covers spectacle (eyeglass) form factors used by ground troops. The test fires a 0.15-caliber, 5.8-grain T37 projectile at 640 feet per second across multiple impact zones — substantially heavier and faster than the ANSI Z87+ ball test. Wiley X carries this certification on its tactical line because the brand was built around military supply contracts. For civilian buyers, MIL-PRF is the highest readily available protection rating you can buy without going to specialty ballistic eyewear.

Yes. Wiley X explicitly cites OSHA 1910.133(b)(1)(1) compliance on the Saint, which is the section of the federal regulation that requires impact-rated eye protection for industrial work. With the included side-shield protection module attached, the Saint clears OSHA’s lateral-protection requirement as well. That makes it one of the few tactical-style frames that’s also drop-in compliant for industrial PPE programs without configuration changes.

Both ship from the same listing. For sunglasses, the Saint runs Selenite polycarbonate in smoke-grey (daylight default), polarized smoke (driving / water), or a contrast tint at extra cost. For prescription, choose the Rx variant at the variant selector — the Saint takes a ground-in prescription cut directly into the lens (no insert needed because the lens curvature is moderate enough to support an Rx pour). FSA/HSA eligibility kicks in only on the prescription configuration.

The Saint is the most balanced silhouette in the Wiley X tactical lineup — a moderate wraparound that reads as a normal pair of sunglasses off the range, but carries the full ballistic spec on the lens. The JAKL is more aggressively cut for peripheral coverage and uses an interchangeable lens system. The Saber Advanced is wider-fit and built around the changeable-lens kit. Pick the Saint if you want a tactical-grade certification in a frame people don’t immediately read as tactical eyewear.

The Saint’s lens housing is shallower than the JAKL or Saber Advanced shields, which means it accepts a ground-in prescription more cleanly. Polycarbonate handles single-vision Rx to roughly +/-5.00 sphere with cylinder up to -2.50; high-index 1.67 takes you above that with controlled edge thickness. If your prescription is at the strong end and you want the Wiley X tactical aesthetic without compromising on optics, the Saint is a better starting point than the more aggressively curved Wiley X shields.
